Only incoherent in that I'm not certain if I'm supposed to defend my point of view or not. As I never actually managed to finish LotR, let alone any of the other books, I can't argue about Tolkein's elves in any case. I left the party in the Mines of Moria, and never felt any particular urge to go back and check on them. That being said, I was not particularly impressed by them up to that point (read the Hobbit back in middle school and didn't much like it), but I wasn't really impressed by anyone at that point, hence not finishing the book. Nothing to defend there, anyway: I was bored, I stopped reading.
I did expect to see a reply from you, knowing your fondness for Tolkien's elves. ;-)
