a cat may look at a king
I thought I should put up photos, every now and again . . . didn't really feel like doing big long photo posts the way I did once upon a time for my China trip, but single ones ever now and then I think I can manage.
So!

This is one of the first pictures that I took in Cambodia, when my roommate and I were just wandering around Phnom Penh getting our bearings. It remains one of my all-time favorites. I took five pictures of this cat, and I still can't decide which I like best.
For those who have been asking me for photos of Scotland and Edinburgh, my apologies, but I was not able to find my camera cord over the Christmas break. Which means I need to figure out how to buy a new one. I am at present conducting research with that end in mind.
I admit to being somewhat inspired in the photography respect by
apis_cerana, who linked me to this Japanese photoblog, which I find I rather adore.
Today was grey and rainy but warm; I was accomplished in that I went jogging and stretched and did That Awful Exercise. Otherwise I spent most of it reading Pandora Hearts, which I adore.
Officially, now, since it's on livejournal.
But oh gods there's so very much to love. The Japanese obsession with Alice in Wonderland continues unchecked, in case you were wondering. I've also given up fighting my love for Gil, who is awesomesauce oftentimes and adorably hilarious for the rest of it.
Veryvery high recommendation for this series. There is an anime, but I've only watched the first episode . . . but seeing as I'm further along in the manga already, I'm too impatient to get more of the story to watch my way through the anime up to the point I am now. So I can't give any verdicts on the quality of the show.
There is a great deal that's excellent about this series. The characters are diverse but compelling; the mains especially so. There's a great many complicated interconnections between them. And although much is revealed, there's always more that remains mysterious, or the revelation leads to another question, and another. For instance, something that I thought would be drawn out-- the identity of Raven-- was quickly revealed in the 2nd volume. But far from lessening the tension, this revelation just lead to more complicated and intricate possibilities.
While I'm recommending things, this video made me laugh. A lot.

I love the picture of the cat and will keep the recommendation of Pandora Hearts in mind - is it somewhere readily accessible...?

As for reading Pandora Hearts, it is licensed in English; I started reading it at the bookstore. And then when I ran out of books there (which happened fairly quickly; they only had the first two) I went home and Googled "read pandora hearts online." So yeah, readily accessible. ::coughs::

my brain stopped functioning due to that video.
(cat picture is AWESOME though)

Truly he was a fantastic cat. Well suited to his throne.

But no. It's totally justified, I see that now. IT IS MORE THAN JUSTIFIED. o_O
Similarly, Lottie--and the Baskervilles in general. They get more disturbingly likable every chapter...and Lottie's slowly turning into one of my favorites. Of course, anyone who's bitchy to Vincent is pretty much automatically one of my favorites. XD
Who are your favorites? Apart from Gil, of course. Lol, Gil. XD *pats his poor head*
Hope you enjoy the fic! :D

The Baskervilles so far are not particularly intriguing to me-- mostly because I can't understand why they're so devoted to Glen. Lottie is the most interesting of all of them because we've seen more of her and her story than we have of anyone else. It's interesting that the Baskervilles do in fact care about each other, but that alone isn't quite enough.
But bitching out Vincent does earn serious points. PSYCHO GUY IS PSYCHO. ::shudder:: Vincent wigs me out.
I do like Gil, I admit it. Because he is full of fail, and also awesome. Although at this stage it's hard to say if there's anyone of the main cast who I actually dislike. Alice is great as she is now (I'm not nearly so impressed with her past self, and thus far what we've learned of her history isn't terribly intriguing. But! I love it when she arrogantly gives orders! And eats lots and lots of meat! Meeeeeeaaaaat . . . ). Oz is getting crazier as the series goes, and is very awesome in a number of ways. His thinking just becomes more warped as we go . . . or rather, we find out that it's always been that warped, we just didn't know it. Sharon's also got quite a bit more to her than her appearance would suggest. Oscar is great fun. Riem MADE MY LIFE when he shot that girl, I can't tell you how impressed I was. Elliot and Leo are hilarious fun, although I'm rather terribly worried about them. Elliot in particular; he's so decent I think he's going to be very traumatized by the stuff his family's involved in. I don't know how he managed not to be already. But hey, he might yet surprise me. Characters have a way of doing that in Pandora Hearts, I've noticed.
