Because three hours of Wallace Stevens is a little much to take, even for me . . . I fall back on random character rambles. I do this all the time . . . it's a chance to explore the characters, and most of it never gets written down. Thankfully, as it's all hideously bad. They're also completely random, from various characters at various times. You can ask me who and when if you're really curious.
"I want to disappear, to leave no legacy, no memory and no trace."
"But you can't, because I am your legacy. And I will never forget you."

"I used to be so angry. I hated you, and I hated the way that hate defined my being, I hated being a thing created by you, hated defining myself as a thing that hated you. But hate was my reason, it was the thing that tied me to the world, and it bound me to you. As long as I hated you, I would remain that, your creature, with no being of my own. But the chance to save you freed me. Giving you your self gave me my self back again. Is it so strange, then, that I don't hate you? That I will not willingly return to the cage that held me for so long?"
"We are neither of us free."
"What is freedom? Perhaps we have circled each other for too long to even understand the word. But I'm here now because I want to be here, and not because I'm a prisoner of my own hate."
"I am holding you here."
"I am content to be held."

"I changed you."
"Yes. But all of life is change. It is not unexpected."
"I wanted to undo it, do you understand? All of this . . . it had nothing to do with you. I wanted you to go back, back to the life that I interrupted that day. I wanted you to be as you were meant to be."
"Nothing to do with me? What I was meant to be? You say strange things. If it has to do with you, does it not also have to do with me? How do you know what I was meant to be? You did not ask me before you made any of these decisions."
"I know. I've never asked you. And I'm sorry. For all of it."
"I am not. There were bad things, and there were good things. It happened, and that does not change. This is as things are. You have a strange thing in you, you humans, this want to change what has gone before."
"Don't you have any regrets?"
"I do not regret. Although I think it would have been less tiring if I had hit you before we started this talking."
